The Oxford Community Band members are deeply saddened at the death of George Goodell, one of our most-beloved members, who passed away in May 2011. George was a member of the band for 23 years, since its founding in 1987. In that time George played trumpet and served in many leadership capacities. He was instrumental in acquiring nonprofit status for the band and was Fundraising Coordinator, a member of the Advisory Committee, and the band’s Treasurer for many years. George was a veteran of Word War II, a professor of Finance at Miami University, a member of Oxford Kiwanis, and a civic leader in many areas. Our condolences go out to George’s wife, Anne, and the rest of his family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
